You can get something for nothing

Yesterday I got a text from AMC movie theaters saying they were giving away up to 4 free tickets to the movie Begin Again.  Being the daughter of my mother, I figured there had to be a catch.  You can't get something for nothing.  Mom wondered if it was a movie they didn't think anybody would go to.  I had heard good reviews of the movie so Mom and I went to go see what the deal was.

Well we got to the theater and the tickets were actually free.  And if I wanted to, I could use the coupon for 2 more tickets any time this weekend.  We were pleasantly surprised.

The movie was awesome.  It is the story of Gretta (Keira Knightly) a song writer who got dumped by her boyfriend (Adam Levine) who is a rising music star.  Gretta is singing in a club one night and is discovered by a down and out record ex Dan (Mark Ruffalo).  Dan and Gretta decided to team up record a record on the streets of New York.

I enjoyed this movie a lot.  The scenes on the streets of New York made me feel like I was actually there.  The soundtrack was very catchy (I am actually listening to it as I type).  Keira does an awesome job of singing.  It was an interesting look into the music industry.  I found myself rooting for these characters.  I cared what happened to them.  I also love the main theme that you should follow your heart and not sell out just for fame.

Mom enjoyed the movie too.  I did get a kick out her saying Keira sang much better than Adam.  Guess we won't be getting her any Maroon 5 albums anytime soon.

This movie was written and directed by John Carney who wrote and directed the movie Once.  If you liked that movie (which I did) you will like this one as well.

So I learned a valuable lesson today. You can get something good for nothing.  Thanks AMC.
